The General Hospital of Bolzano (Italy)

The General Hospital of Bolzano (Italy) belongs to the Italian National Health Service and operates under the supervision of the Health Authority of the Province of Bolzano.
The Bolzano Health District – Bolzano General Hospital provides health care services to a population of 206.729 inhabitants through an integrated network composed by a general hospital and seven district health facilities, distributed in an area of 1.525 sq. km.
The 850-bed general hospital offers sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care in a very large range of specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery, and it is recognized as the leading medical center in South Tyrol and one of the best in the nation.
The pharmacy department is composed by 7 pharmacists; one of which, Alicia Tavella, is deputy pharmacy director and responsible of cytostatic compounding.

Alicia Tavella, born 24/09/1961 in Bolzano
Degree in Pharmacy at the University of Padova (Italy). Senior Pharmacist and deputy director of the Pharmacy of Bolzano hospital.

The core of the SafeChemo project is based on a technology which was prototyped at our hospital. We were the first to believe that this is the future of cytotoxic compounding and I am very excited to see it happening!
